A Luxury Gender Reveal scan at Numi Scan Gateshead is the full celebration package. It's a private 2D ultrasound from 15 weeks of pregnancy that reveals whether you're expecting a boy or a girl with 99%+ accuracy, combined with everything you need to make the moment unforgettable, whether that's an in-clinic reveal with your partner or a sealed envelope for a reveal party with your family and friends.
During your scan, our experienced and registered sonographer will:
- Determine your baby's gender with 99%+ accuracy
- Check baby's movement and overall wellbeing
- Confirm an audible heartbeat
- Reveal the gender on the day or write it down and seal it in an envelope for your reveal party
The premium package includes:
- Gender reveal confetti cannon or balloon in pink or blue
- 1 large A4 printed image + 2 A5 prints + 4 A6 prints
- Baby photo key ring, a take-home keepsake

When can you have a Luxury Gender Reveal scan?
The earliest reliable visual gender determination on a 2D ultrasound is from 15 weeks of pregnancy. That's when baby's anatomy has developed enough to be clearly visible. Here's when most parents book:
- 15-16 weeks: The earliest reliable window. See our 16-week milestone guide. This is the gender determination sweet spot. For an even earlier result from 8 weeks, our DNA Gender Blood Test is the way to go.
- 17-22 weeks: The peak booking window. Most reveal parties happen in this window because it's after the NHS dating scan but before the 20-week anomaly scan, so the celebration is genuinely the first time you (and your guests) find out.
- 22-30 weeks: Still reliable, though some parents at this stage prefer to combine the gender confirmation with our 4D Baby Scan for the bonding experience as well.
- After 30 weeks: Possible but less popular, as by this point most parents have already found out one way or another.
Whatever week you choose, the celebration package (confetti cannon, A4 print, key ring, video, 4D peek) is included. Available after your initial NHS appointment.

A 25% surcharge applies once a multiple pregnancy has been confirmed (typically at or after the NHS 12-week dating scan, or once identified on one of our private scans), to cover the additional scan time and dual reporting required.
Your appointment is 15 minutes long. You'll be welcomed into our Gateshead clinic on the High Street (opposite Trinity Square and the VUE Cinema), and can settle into our scan room with up to 7 guests. Our experienced and registered sonographer will perform a transabdominal scan (over the tummy, never internal) using warm gel. We'll first check baby's wellbeing, then determine the gender. You can choose to find out on the day, or have it sealed in an envelope for a reveal party. You'll leave with the confetti cannon or balloon, A4 print, 2 A5 prints, 4 A6 prints, baby photo key ring, scan video, all your digital images, and a written wellbeing report.
For the clearest images, drink 500-750ml of water around 30-45 minutes before your appointment, and try not to empty your bladder before the scan. Your bladder should feel comfortably full but not painful. Wear loose-fitting clothes that allow easy access to your tummy. You don't need a GP referral. See our guide on booking without a referral.
Both packages give the same 99%+ accurate gender result from 15 weeks. The standard Gender Baby Scan (£68) is the affordable option: wellbeing report, free 4D peek, 4 A6 prints. The Luxury Gender Reveal Baby Scan (£95) adds the celebration extras: pink/blue confetti cannon or balloon, A4 print, baby photo key ring, scan video recording, and a free re-scan if baby's position isn't favourable. Choose Luxury if you're hosting a reveal party or want the full celebration experience.
We'll do everything we can during your appointment to encourage baby to move. With the Luxury Gender Reveal, the re-scan is completely free if we can't determine the gender on the day, which is one of the main reasons clients choose this package over the standard Gender Scan.
Yes, this is one of the most popular requests. We'll write the gender down and seal it in an envelope for you, so you can take it home or pass it to a friend or family member to plan the reveal. The confetti cannon or balloon is colour-matched, so we'll seal that separately too if needed. Many parents pass everything to a relative who then organises the reveal at a party.

Our room features a large projector screen (90-inch projection) and two 46-inch side TVs for an immersive 180-degree viewing experience from comfortable sofa seating. If you'd like to bring more than 7, please contact the clinic in advance and we'll do our best to accommodate.
